DAISY Award Recognizes Hot Springs PCC
Hot Springs patient care coordinator Spencer Burris, RN, has been recognized with a DAISY Award! Spencer was honored after two different nominations called out ways that he showed compassionate care.
The first nomination came from a patient’s family. The patient was elderly and had dementia, and the family said Spencer made sure she was comfortable during her entire stay. They said Spencer never acted tired or busy, and treated their family member as if they were the only patient in the hospital.
The second nomination came from a coworker whose patient had a broken hip that required surgery. The patient’s wife was receiving cancer treatment on another floor, and the patient was clearly upset he couldn’t see his wife. Spencer set up a meeting with stepdown, wheeling the patient’s bed into his wife’s room and rearranging things so the couple could hug and talk before surgery.
Congratulations, Spencer, and thank you for your compassionate care that is truly worth of a DAISY Award! If you know of a nurse coworker who demonstrates extraordinary care, nominate them! Just click this link and fill out the form.
