Volunteer Opportunities for Coworkers

Looking to do more volunteer work? We’ve put together a list of opportunities for you to get involved in your community. Remember, you can receive MyWellness points for volunteering.

Central Arkansas:

  • River City Ministry in North Little Rock is a faith-based, nonprofit dedicated to meeting basic human needs and connecting people to God through Christ-Centered relationship.   • Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence provides a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, safe shelter, social/legal advocacy, community housing, prevention education, and support services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.  They are always in need of volunteers to assist in assembling Welcome Kits for survivors and their families who enter the emergency shelter, organizing and sorting clothing donations and the food pantry, general cleaning of the shelter, and lunch or dinner preparations for guests in the shelter.   • Arkansas Foodbank is the foundation in the fight against hunger. Since its inception in 1984, Arkansas Foodbank has been at the forefront of hunger relief, distributing millions of meals to individuals and families across its 33-county service area through a network of more than 400 community partners, including pantries, churches, community centers, and schools. Through this network, the Foodbank has distributed more than half a billion pounds of food, providing over 416 million meals. The Arkansas Foodbank has volunteer shifts daily Monday through Friday, Saturday mornings, and Tuesday nights. The Foodbank also utilizes volunteers for special events like the upcoming Trucks, Taps, and Tunes Food Truck Festival and the Summer Cereal Drive.
  • Our House provides supportive services on a 7-acre campus to over 3,000 clients facing homelessness each year. Volunteers can do things like cook a meal for shelter residents, tutor a student, assist the teachers in one of the Little Lerners classrooms, teach a job skills class, help sort donations at our Resale Stores or provide childcare during evening programming.   • Immerse Arkansas helps youth in crisis in Arkansas. They are always in need of donations and have a full list of “In-Kind Needs.”

  • Jericho Way is the only day resource center in Central Arkansas. Every weekday in Little Rock, an average of 150 homeless men and women visit Jericho Way to receive services that help them overcome the immediate crisis of homelessness. They currently need help with the computer lab, front desk, clothing closet and custodial/maintenance work.   • Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance works with local and national non-profit organizations as well as state and federal agencies in implementing programs designed to increase access to food and teach low-income Arkansans the skills they need to make healthy food choices. Southwest Arkansas:

  • Project Hope Food Bank operates as a pooling of resources, helping to support area non-profits that do not have the assets to purchase or store enormous quantities of food. To help you can host a food drive or even start a garden. If you’re interested in helping the food back you can email [email protected] or call 501.623.3663.
  • Ouachita Children, Youth, & Family Services offers an emergency shelter and respite care as well as outreach programs, case management, and support services in both Garland and Clark counties.  If you’re interested in volunteering, download and complete this form.
