Carr Wins Infirmary’s Babcock Service Excellence Award

heritagefriday4Juanita Carr has been named the 2015 Sister Teresa Joseph Babcock Service Excellence Award winner at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.

Carr is the Director of Volunteer Services at the Infirmary.

The award is in honor of Sister Teresa Joseph Babcock, who was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Following a successful career in Catholic education, Sister Teresa Joseph was a significant presence at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary from 1967 to 1995. Continuing to utilize her teaching skills, she encouraged CHI St. Vincent co-workers to pursue education. She was known for her deep interest in other people and the compassion she constantly extended to all she met.

The Babcock Award is presented annually to a co-worker who exemplifies the spirit of hospitality that has always characterized the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. This person fully embodies the Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence and goes above and beyond the call of duty in carrying out their responsibilities.

An excerpt from her nomination letter:

“CHI St. Vincent is especially blessed to have such a quality, top notch employee as Juanita Carr responsible for the Auxiliary and Volunteers. She is “The Cream of the Crop.” From her beginning here, as a secretary to the Chaplaincy Department, to her position today, she has shown and demonstrated in all that she does that she has understood and practiced the quality of the core values that CHI St. Vincent wants in every co-worker. What I see as most outstanding has been her ability to “pick up the ball and run with it.”
