The Women’s Choice Award for Best Hospitals™ uses the most recent publicly available information from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as accreditation information from appropriate sources, and surveys from thousands of women.
Only the Top 10% of hospitals in the nation are awarded.
The award was an idea from Delia Passi, CEO, following her own horrific breast cancer experience about 20 years ago.
She was diagnosed with suspicious calcifications and in need of extensive imaging. She researched where to go and found nothing, so she made the wrong assumption that all imaging centers offer the same diagnostic standards. As a result, she suffered through a surgical biopsy, two lumpectomies and finally a mastectomy at age 42. She learned afterward that it came down to faulty imaging diagnoses resulting in undetected cancers.
After that experience, Delia made a commitment to help women find the best healthcare. With fifteen healthcare awards, this award is a coveted credential that identifies the nation’s best hospitals based on robust criteria that includes relevant clinical performance, patient satisfaction and appropriate accreditations.
