Community Outreach Teams Up With Scouts Troop to Revamp McAuley Senior Center Flower Bed

Scout Troop 6020 gave a much needed facelift to the front flower bed at the CHI St. Vincent Senior Center- McAuley. The senior center is free to seniors ages 60 and older. The center provides nutritious meals and fun events throughout the week, including Meals on Wheels.

Mission purchased the flowers and mulch, and Mandy Davis, Community Outreach Director, and her daughter helped the Scouts weed, plant, and lay mulch.

The Scouts were amazed to hear that the Meals on Wheels program feeds more than 500 seniors in need daily. They said they’re planning a tour of the facility soon to learn more about the folks served at the center. They’re also planning to come back and help with the grounds more!

“The Scouts worked hard to make sure it was perfect and completely full of flowers saying, ‘They’re going to love this when they see it!’ Huge thanks to this wonderful group of Scouts and their parents,” said Davis.
