Coworkers Recognized with Heritage Week Awards
As we take the time to honor and celebrate the history of our ministry during Heritage Week, we also recognize the wonderful coworkers we have throughout all of our CHI St. Vincent hospitals.
The following were selected as winners of our Leadership and Service Excellence awards.
Sister Margaret Vincent Blandford Leadership Award
Kim Ferguson, PharmD, Market Director of Pharmacy (Infirmary)

“Her deep Christian faith is obvious to all who know her. She models Christ in her leadership role, making others want to do good just by the example she sets! Kim has been an unsung hero, leading Pharmacy successfully through many difficult obstacles, national drug shortages, staff shortages, and more. Kim is well known throughout our market and is well respected by both the medical staff and nursing staff.”
Sister Teresa Joseph Babcock Service Excellence Award
Sean Lindsey, RN, 4E General Surgery (Infirmary)

“Sean started out in our RNRP program over 3 years ago. In the years to follow, I have seen him grow in his role as RN as he carries out his responsibilities, fully embracing our core values as well as mission here at CHI St. Vincent. Patients state he is awesome, goes above and beyond, and is a God send to them. With a positive attitude and unwavering commitment to excellence, Sean has stepped into roles to support our shared governance structure. I feel certain your day will be made brighter should you run into Sean in our halls as he smiles and greets you with true sincerity.”
Beverly Honneycut, Practice Manager, University Family Clinic (Medical Group)

“Beverly is a great leader and inspires staff, peers, physicians by always being supportive and understanding in all circumstances. She always sees the best in you as a person and speaks of your strengths and achievements! She shows compassion in her work and goes above and beyond to support her staff, and help care for patient’s needs by working in all areas of the clinic. Beverly puts herself second to the needs of others by working endlessly if short staffed and to allow others time off. She is dedicated to the Healing Ministry of SVI.”
Hope Hartman, RN, Emergency Department (Morrilton)

“Hope is the most amazing person whose qualities carry over into her profession as a nurse. knowledgeable, efficient, & caring are wonderful characteristics to find in an ER nurse, & Hope has them all! We love her so much in our department. A nursing home patient was in the ER for anemia. He was a ‘busy patient’ getting 2 units of blood & other medications. He had a pressure sore on his nose from his eye glasses. Hope worked on his glasses to make them more comfortable to wear. He was so thankful for the extra time & care she gave to him!”
Hope’s daughter accepted the award on her behalf.
Andre Bustamante, RN, NSICU (North)

“Andre is the best coworker to work with! He is incredibly intelligent, takes top notch care of his patients, helps everyone else without them having to ask, never complains, always picks up shifts, and always keeps a positive attitude in the workplace. He is such a jokester and everyone on the unit loves him for always lightening the mood and spreading positivity in the workplace. He is such a wealth of knowledge and everyone knows they can always come to him for advice, help, or simply for encouragement. All of Andre’s patients and family members love him because he is super caring, listens to their needs and concerns, and provides exceptional personal care. There is not a doubt that Andre is one of the best nurses out there and is deserving of this award.”
Sister Dorothy Calhoun Service Excellence Award
Clay Bowen, Maintenance Supervisor (Hot Springs)

“Clay Bowen embodies the Core Values of this organization every day with every one of his interactions with coworkers, patients, and visitors. He has worked for this organization for 12 years and in that time has gone above and beyond on countless occasions. Going all the way back to the days when the Sisters were an integral part of our organization. Clay was once called out to rescue them after a group of them become stranded out on Lake Hamilton in the CHI Pontoon boat. Over the years he has been called upon to do all number of tasks from building a CHI parade float, to picking up the U-Haul, running around town to pick up, and then delivering all of the silent auction items for the Heart Ball, to attending the Heart Ball. No matter what is asked of him he can always be counted to carry through. He has the highest integrity, is full of compassion, and embodies excellence, inclusion, and collaboration. We are sincerely blessed to have him as a part of this organization.”
In memory of Shannon Taylor, PA, Glenwood clinic (Medical Group)

“Shannon was my provider for many years. While having many health issues herself, colon removed and chronic pain from an autoimmune condition, she came to work and cared for all with compassion and care.”
Patrick Litster, PA, Murfreesboro clinic (Medical Group), accepted the award on behalf of his late wife, Shannon, who passed earlier this year.
Deacon Patrick McCruden Leadership Award
Delia de Los Reyes, Nurse Manager, 4E (Hot Springs)

“Over the past year, I’ve witnessed Delia step out of her comfort zone to grow in leadership as the 4E nurse manager, while also managing the float pool. She also served as the chair for our praise and celebration committee and works to develop relationships with our international coworkers. She has transformed the culture on 4E to one of a family- the unit is very close, often recognized by others for exceptional teamwork. She has made a difference in so many coworkers that come to our organization with the clothes on their backs, she makes them feel welcomed, ensures that have adequate resources at their homes, and always ensures they feel supported. Delia consistently gives everything her all! She does everything with a smile on her face and kindness towards everyone she meets.”
Dr. Michael Young Physician Excellence Award
Dr. Ashley Jenkins, Hospitalist (Hot Springs)

“As a 20+ year nurse, I have to say Dr. Jenkins is one of the best doctors I’ve worked with. Dr. Jenkins has led our staff through
uncharted territory. As a night nurse, I’m usually flying under the radar as far as physician contact goes. This not the case with Dr.
Jenkins. You will hear the click click of her heels before our night shift is done. She wants to know all the staff and hear all the staffs input. Dr. Jenkins invests quality time in her patients, her peers and the rest of the hospital staff. She collaborates with the nurses to come up with the best plan of care for our patients. There have been several examples where I have seen Dr. Jenkins go above and beyond. I like to make the joke ‘WWJD?” What would Jenkins do? She sets the bar high. But I can say, I am a better nurse because of her. Let’s not forget, she is doing this as a wife and mother of 3.”
