Dr. Maggie Larrimer Celebrated as Service Hero
Congratulations Dr. Maggie Larrimer, OBGYN Surgeon, for being recognized as a Hot Springs Service Hero!
Dr. Larrimer was nominated by a patient for her excellence.
Throughout her pregnancy, this patient saw Dr. Larrimer. She had extreme pain and took many trips to the emergency department throughout the pregnancy.
She said at 32 weeks, she made her last trip to the ED as she planned to progress to labor and delivery due to the pain.
Dr. Larrimer ordered an ultrasound of her gallbladder, and the ultrasound revealed gallstones, as we had suspected. However, something else was seen on the ultrasound. Dr. Larrimer went to Radiology, herself, to speak with the staff, review the ultrasound, and then ultimately ordered an MRI to get a better look.
It was determined the patient had a 15cm mass that was attached to her pancreas. She was then transferred to another facility as a high-risk pregnancy patient.
This patient safely delivered her daughter at 34 weeks. Two weeks later, she underwent an 8-hour surgery to remove her gallbladder, spleen, the tail of the pancreas, and the mass. The oncologist explained that her pathology results showed precancerous cells, but was classified as low risk.
“The miracle in this, I feel, is that God used Dr. Larrimer to dig deeper into my pain which resulted in discovering this mass early, and prevented it from progressing into active pancreatic cancer. This physician deserves recognition for the care she provided to me and ultimately saving my life!”
“At only 23 years of age, this was a very scary situation. She was so kind, caring, and my saving Grace! Today, I have a beautiful and healthy baby girl, and I am on the road to recovery! To God be the Glory!! Thank you for sending Dr. Maggie Larrimer to me!”
