Frances Hutch Named Service Hero in Hot Springs

Frances Hutch, PCT, was named Service Hero in Hot Springs for displaying the value of COMPASSION.

The staff on 4 East had all tried to engage a patient that seemed withdrawn and appeared to want to be left alone. Frances, her patient care technician, took the time to talk with her and realized that the patient had been through a lot and had recently lost her husband. The patient admitted that she felt alone and that no one cared.

Frances went to the Mercy Closet and got a huge bear and gave it to her. The patient smiled broadly, hugged the bear and named it “Big Boy” which is what she called her late husband. She began to open up and talk to Frances. Her small gesture reminded the patient that someone does care, and she began to interact with the other staff. Frances said she was going to get her some reading glasses so she can do her puzzles and promised to continue to visit with her even after she was discharged.

Frances lives our mission every day inside and outside our walls. Thank you Frances, for being an example to us all.
