Historic Flooding and Severe Weather Leads to Critical Blood Shortage

By now, we’ve all seen images and reports of the historic and devastating flooding along the Arkansas River throughout the state, not to mention the destruction caused by the recent tornadoes and other storms. What we are not seeing is the devastating impact it is having on the state’s blood supply.

The impact of such disasters on the blood supply are two-fold. They increase the demand due to the need of those injured or affected, but donations also tend to wain because people focus on the immediate need of those needing food and shelter. While those needs are immediate and grave, we mustn’t ignore the desperate need for blood.

You have two opportunities to help with our upcoming blood drives in the month of June. Please consider donating, and recruit friends and family members to donate as well. The drive dates, times and locations are:

CHI St. Vincent Infirmary – Vincent DePaul Room
June 11-12 | 10:45am – 2pm

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs – Mercy Room
June 19 | 10am – 2pm
June 20 | 11am – 5pm
