Infirmary CVOR Team Recognized as Service Heroes
The Infirmary CVOR team members were recognized as Service Heroes for displaying the value of EXCELLENCE.
The CVOR recently decided to switch up their routine and work with different teams within the unit. This meant nurses and scrubs were assigned to surgeons they did not usually work with.
“By working with different people, we had to maximize teamwork and communication with each other. The surgeons had to be more patient with the staff in the room, and the staff had to re-familiarize themselves with a surgeon that they didn’t typically work for.“
The CVOR team has been exceptional throughout all of this. In surgery, we thrive on routine and this “mix up” could have resulted in chaos. Instead, the CVOR welcomed it! They never complained about assignments, accepted what was given to them and even promoted teamwork within our area.
“Our nurses and scrub techs are exceptional because they all put their best into each case–anticipating, studying, forming connections with coworkers they don’t usually interact with and really strengthening the team by pulling together to do what is best for the patient.”
Not many teams function they way ours does, especially when they are given a challenge like this! I am immensely proud, as are the surgeons and our director, of what this team is capable of and the positive attitudes that they give every day.
