Infirmary Nurse Celebrates PCCN Certification

Major congratulations go to Dehiwattage Fernando, patient care coordinator for the Infirmary’s 5W Progressive Care Unit, on achieving her Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification! 

The PCCN certification is a credential from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses that recognizes excellent nurses managing acutely ill adult patients. “Progressive care” is a term that collectively describes areas in which acutely ill patients are cared for, like intermediate care units, stepdown units and emergency departments. Recipients must have worked as an RN or APRN in direct care of acutely ill adult patients for at least the previous two years, as well as pass the PCCN certification exam.
