Congratulations to the Nursing Leadership Team at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for winning the DAISY Team Award!
They were nominated by Angie Longing, Dr. Gerry Jones and Christi Whatley.
This group has worked diligently over the past two years to establish a culture that ensures nursing excellence and compassionate care. As a result of their work, patient experience scores have significantly improved. Quality indicators have also improved. Nursing turnover rates have decreased.
Because of their efforts there’s been a 75% reduction in serious safety events, 50% reduction in hospital acquired infections and Patient Experience scores have gone from the 6th percentile to 32nd percentile.
Dr. Jones has noticed LOS reduced to 6.9 – 6.1 – 5.0, financial performance is $15M better, revenue cycle improved to collect 2% more, Top Hospital for Heart and Pancreatic Care, busiest Infusion Center and renovation of this space and Mission, FNS, and Nursing have helped turn left over meals into free meals for our coworkers.
These leaders have also revamped leadership forum and quarterly town halls, hired a patient liaison for the front lobby, added refreshing area in the hospital, a general refresh of nursing units, daily department huddles and leadership rounding on all units.
“The Nursing Leadership Team plays a vital role in supporting and caring for clinical nurses and other coworkers who provide direct care for our patients. We believe they should be recognized with the DAISY Team Award for their leadership.“
