Julie Rasmussen Recognized with Infirmary DAISY Award
Julie Rasmussen, RN, who works in the Infirmary’s General Surgery unit, was recognized with a DAISY Award for going above and beyond for her patients.
Julie was nominated by the wife of a recent patient who praised her “compassion, optimism and kindness.”
During the patient’s initial stay, Julie was his nurse and always willing to listen and answer questions. When the patient was re-admitted, Julie stopped to visit, even though she was no longer caring for him.
“She is an amazing nurse and great at her job. She was a beacon of light during our darkness! She is a blessing!”
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the national award to thank nurses everywhere.
