Nicholas Wins Hot Springs’ Calhoun Award
Trish Nicholas has been named the 2015 Sister Dorothy Calhoun Service Excellence Award winner at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.
Nicholas is a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.
The award is named in honor of Sister Dorothy Calhoun (RSM), an unwavering example of Christ’s healing ministry during her long career as a nurse, hospital administrator, chaplain, director of pastoral care and ultimately a volunteer. She touched countless lives in her professional career and has been a constant sign of the compassion and love of God to all she has encountered.
The Calhoun Award is presented to a Hot Springs co-worker who exemplifies the spirit of hospitality that has always characterized the Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. It is a person who fully embodies the Core Values (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence) of CHI St. Vincent in every encounter with patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
Here is an excerpt from Nicholas’ nomination letter:
“Trish is a great example of service excellence and one who displays the values of CHI St. Vincent. She is a clinical coach who is patient and nurturing to new co-workers. She explains things in great detail and has a way about her that is non-threatening and encouraging. She is always willing to work extra, help on extra projects, volunteer for unit based teams, and do anything else to improve quality of care and service delivery.â€
