One organ donor can save up to eight lives. That’s one of five reasons to become an organ donor. Here are the other four.
1) There is a critical organ shortage. There are over 113,702 people currently waiting for an organ donation. As many as 18 people die every day waiting for an organ.
2) Organ donation costs you and your family nothing. An organ donor and his or her family are never billed for any expenses related to organ donation.
3) Organ donation is only considered once all life-saving efforts have been exhausted. Organ donors must be declared brain dead before any organs are considered for donation.
