Tyler Massey Presented with DAISY Award

Congratulations Tyler Massey, RN, CVICU, Infirmary, for being recognized as a DAISY award winner for August.

Tyler was nominated by a patient’s family member.

The patient’s wife said her 31-year-old husband was in the ICU after having open heart surgery and having a stroke. He was having some difficulty with speech. She said Tyler was the best nurse they had while in the ICU. He was very patient with her husband and let him take his time to speak.

She said Tyler explained everything to her husband when he would ask and even when he didn’t ask. Tyler was never too busy to talk with the couple.

Thank you Tyler for your humankindness!

“I think this award would be the best way to show Tyler how thankful we are that God put him in our lives!”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the national award to thank nurses everywhere.
