Values in Action Team Provides Bedding For Family Shelter Expansion

The VIA Team teamed up with the Infirmary’s CCU, CVICU, CVSD and ED teams to collect items for Our House’s family shelter expansion. Our House empowers homeless and near-homeless families and individuals to succeed in the workforce, in school, and in life through hard work, wise decision-making, and active participation in the community.

Coworkers collected more than enough sheets, blankets and pillows to make every room and bed feel like home.

Our House says the expansion “doubled the nonprofit’s housing capacity for families, as well as the number of children in early-childhood and out-of-school programs.” Further, the expansion has a dedicated space for onsite mental and physical healthcare.

“CHI St. Vincent proudly provided grant funding for the expansion of mental health services for hundreds of Our House clients. We will continue to support their efforts through acts of humankindness like collecting twin sized sheets and blankets to help families seeking emergency shelter feel more at home during some of their darkest days,” said Mandy Davis, Community Outreach Coordinator.
