Ada Rodriguez: A True Service Mentality

Working in healthcare is a difficult, but rewarding occupation. Part of the fulfillment we get is the knowledge that we are helping people in need. We often interact with people during a time of struggle, a time of pain, a time of fear and anxiety; but we also often get to experience their joy, peace, relief and happiness. We experience both highs and lows during their life journey.

During the past two years, people have gained a new appreciation for those in the healthcare industry. Doctors, nurses and those involved in patient care have been identified as heroes – and justifiably so. But there are countless others that have given tirelessly to help our patients, and their fellow coworkers. They may seldomly, if ever, come face-to-face with a patient or their family, however they directly impact our ability to care for them. Sometimes, it’s just an unwavering dedication to do their absolute best…every day, regardless of what their job function may be. Sometimes it’s a smile or kind word given without question to those that need it most. Sometimes, it’s people like Ada Rodriguez in Hot Springs.

Ada works with Environmental Services. Some people may see her as having a job that, while necessary, is one that doesn’t directly impact our patients or our coworkers. Well, those people have never met Ada. When you meet Ada, you quickly realize nothing could be further from the truth. Although she may have minimal contact with patients and coworkers, Ada still manages to have an undeniably positive impact on both, almost daily.

We all can learn a lot from people who take such pride and dedication in everything they do. This world needs more people who spread joy and happiness wherever they go and to whomever they meet. We all need more people like Ada in our lives.
