Brandy Hopkins Becomes First Pharmacist in Arkansas to Earn Cardiology Certification

Congratulations to Brandy Hopkins, PharmD, BCCP, who recently became the first pharmacist in Arkansas to be Board Certified in Cardiology.

Board certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties is recognized as the gold standard for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels. Pharmacists with certification in Cardiology have the advanced knowledge and experience to review, analyze and monitor multifaceted clinical information to make reasoned decisions for patients with multiple comorbidities and highly complex medication regimens.

Brandy is currently the only BPS Board Certified Cardiology Pharmacist in Arkansas.

The purpose of the BCCP program is to validate that the pharmacist has the advanced knowledge and experience to optimize patient outcomes by:

  • Focusing on disease prevention and treatment, including evidence-based medication use and related care that improve both short-­ and long-­term outcomes for patients
  • Practicing across the spectrum of care, including ambulatory, acute, and intensive care; and
  • Reviewing, analyzing and monitoring multifaceted clinical information to make reasoned decisions for patients with multiple comorbidities and highly complex medication regimens.
