DAISY Recipient Gives Patient Care Beyond the Hospital

Congratulations to Ish Vasquez, RN, at Hot Springs on receiving the DAISY Award! Ish was selected after going well beyond his job description to help a patient who was stuck with no way home. Here’s the story that was in his nomination:

“We had a Spanish-speaking patient here from out of state after an MVA who spoke very little English. With no family or friends nearby to transport him back home, Ish worked hard to help this patient return to his family. After working all night, Ish went home to sleep for a few hours, then assisted the patient in getting a Greyhound bus ticket and drove him from the hospital to the bus station. His compassion and love for others shine so brightly that they warm everyone’s heart around him. He is a wonderful leader, nurse and person.”

Ish, this is truly a special service you were able to provide to our patient. Thank you so much for going far beyond what you were asked to meet someone’s needs. We are so proud of you!
