Infirmary Awarded Magnet Site Visit in Redesignation Efforts

A message from Brenda Fischer, PhD, RN, MBA, FACHE, CPHQ, Magnet Program Director:

The Infirmary has been awarded an upcoming Magnet Site Visit to be held on April 4-6 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

The Infirmary campus submitted its initial redesignation document on June 1, 2017 and completed an additional documentation request on Dec. 1, 2017.

The Site Visit is the final step in the redesignation process. The Magnet appraisers will be on-site to clarify, amplify and verify information that was provided in the written documentation. The site visit is the opportunity for our clinical nurses and care partners to showcase their outstanding care and teamwork.

Infirmary nurses, care partners and supporting departments will be invited to speak with the appraisers in meetings and rounding visits on all the nursing units. Our Magnet redesignation document will be available on the Insider for all staff to view in February.

The Magnet flag at the Infirmary was recently taken down after it was damaged by high winds. A new flag has been ordered and will be flying soon.

More information will continue to be provided about the redesignation process. For questions, please contact Brenda Fischer at [email protected].
