Jodi Pankey Recognized with Hot Springs Daisy Award
Jodi Pankey was recognized with a Hot Springs DAISY Award for the care she provided to a COVID patient during their final moments of life.
The nomination praised Jodi for exhibiting our core values as she cared for the patient.
“She had integrity in providing full one-on-one care in our patient’s last moments. With compassion she held his hand and spoke to him and reassured the patient that he was not alone, and she did all this with excellence. It was not a forced effort, it was very natural.
“I’m sure that this level of care ate into her time with her other patients, but she did not let that distract her from her time with this patient during their final earthly moments. She deserves recognition for her professional behavior and considerate heart.”
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the national award to thank nurses everywhere.
