Morrilton Displays Values in Action By Delivering Harvest of Hope to Community
Conway County Care Center’s motto is simple, “No one in Conway County goes hungry,” and they do their best to meet the need year around. Food insecurity is more prevalent in rural areas than in metro areas and disproportionately affects Black and Latino households.
Food insecurity has far reaching implications, from
chronic health issues to an individual’s ability to finish school. The Care Center provides food boxes to nearly 350 families per month which accounts for nearly 400 boxes of cereal per month. CHI St. Vincent is an annual supporter of their annual Harvest of Hope food drive and raised 172 boxes of cereal far surpassing their goal of 50! Angie Longing, newly named President of CHI Morrilton, agreed to “match” the efforts with a $500 check to the center in addition to the cereal.
“Angie understands that hospitals are the cornerstones of communities, especially rural communities. Community health impacts everything – a child’s ability to learn, an adult’s ability to work, safety and crime, life expectancy, even happiness. Improving community health is a huge undertaking, but it’s one Conway County Care Center has understood the importance of for a long time. We are honored to support their efforts and continue to look for ways to help improve community health.” – Mandy Davis,
Director of Community Outreach for CHI St. Vincent.
