New Masking Policy In Effect
In light of improved circumstances, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is expected to end the Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 on May 11, 2023. In response, CommonSpirit has announced, masks are no longer required for patients, visitors or coworkers (vaccinated and unvaccinated) in patient care settings starting Monday, March 20.
This includes examination rooms, acute care hospitals, ambulatory venues and home health locations.
Anyone may choose to continue to wear a mask at their discretion.
Please note this change does not apply to masking requirements for other purposes, including patients in respiratory/droplet/airborne isolation and coworkers who have not received the influenza vaccination as per policy.
“I know we have all been through a lot over the past three years. I am greatly encouraged by recent trends, and I hope you share my optimism for the future. I am grateful for your leadership, support and patience,” Bob Wiebe, MD, CommonSpirit Chief Medical Officer.
