Start Your New Year off Right with These Health Tips

Did you know that almost 60 percent of people have a New Years resolution of losing weight and eating better? And 25 percent of people have a goal of spending less and saving more. We want to empower coworkers to keep their 2019 resolutions. A total of 8% of people complete their New Years resolutions. Become part of that 8% by creating a plan and using the resources below.

Below are a few common resolutions and how the 2019 Wellness Program and special wellness focused coworker perks can help:

1. Lose Weight

This is the most common New Years resolution, and we’re committed to helping you (and your eligible spouse). Starting in January, we’re partnering with WW (formerly WeightWatchers) to help you reach your wellness goals—to lose weight, eat healthier, move more, develop a more positive mindset or all of the above. CHI St. Vincent coworkers will have discounted pricing on the WW offerings listed here. Join WW, and you’ll get access to lots of exciting features, including exclusive mindset content through Headspace®, and incredible products and experiences through their rewards program, WellnessWins.

2. Workout with Consistency

The Well-being Champions Team has partnered with gyms across Arkansas to give our coworkers plenty of discounted options when they’re looking to get fit.

3. Reduce Stress and Become Happier

Stress is a leading cause of illness, but did you know that mindfulness training is a proven way to keep you healthy? New to the 2019 wellness program is a mindfulness training program called Whil. This is an on-demand video-based program that makes mindfulness training easy to access, simple to understand and engaging. Complete 10 Whil sessions in a month and earn $10.

4. Save More Money

While we may have goals to build a solid emergency fund, buy a home, retire early or pay off debt, we can all make poor money choices. We may even be sabotaging our finances unconsciously.

5. Volunteer More

Volunteering helps more than just your community, it also helps you through a sense of purpose. Our volunteer activity program offers you many different ways to give back to your community. You can earn $20 per volunteer activity three times a year. Volunteer activities can be performed on your own or at work location and can include:

  • CHI Mission Activity
  • Blood Donation
  • Charitable Walk, Run etc.
  • Food Bank
  • Violence Prevention
  • “Neighbor” Assistance
  • Community Need
  • Mentoring Program

6. Become Stronger Mentally

Take a moment to reflect on your life and the obstacles that may be keeping you from reaching your goals. Maybe you’re having trouble paying off student loans or credit card debt, having relationship difficulties with a spouse or family member or dealing with high levels of stress. Whatever the challenge, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help. Licensed counselors are available to serve you and your family 24 hours a day. To connect with a counselor, call 877.679.3819 or visit their website. Counseling sessions are confidential, and the first five sessions are provided at no cost.
