Drew Miller, an NSICU RN at the Infirmary, was named a Service Hero for displaying the value of COMPASSION.
Drew was nominated for helping out on a day that was incredibly busy discharging and admitting patients in 4NE, the sister unit to NSICU.
“Drew knew NSICU would need beds for post op patients, but the floor couldn’t take any more patients at the time. Drew coordinated with the charge nurse to watch his patients so he could come down to the floor and assist the nurses with discharges, admissions and passing medications. With his help, the nurses were able to take care of their tasks and eventually accept transfers from the unit, thus allowing our surgery patients to be admitted to NSICU.”
