Hot Springs RN Honored For Impact on Student Nurses

Congratulations to Traci Spencer, RN, on 2E in Hot Springs for receiving the DAISY Award! This national recognition goes to nurses who go above and beyond their everyday work to deliver extraordinary care and excellent teamwork. Most of the time, we see DAISY Award nominations from patients or their families. This time, Traci was honored after a couple of student nurses nominated her. Here’s what they had to say:

“I would like to nominate Traci for her outstanding care and embodiment of CHI’s mission and values. As her student learner, I had the opportunity to witness her exceptional nursing first hand. During a challenging situation, a patient became very agitated and yelled at staff. This nurse remained calm, compassionate and professional. She used therapeutic communication to de-escalate the patient, actively listened, validated their feelings and successfully redirected the behavior. She showed true compassion treating the patient with dignity and respect while maintaining integrity, compassion and excellence in every aspect of care. It was an honor to observe her lead with patience and empathy. It has made an impact on the future nurse I want to be.”

“For the past 13 shifts I have precepted with her, and she always goes above and beyond for her patients. She will forget lunch until I remind her because she’s always working and helping others. It has been an honor to learn from her.”

It’s always special to see our team members helping to influence the young people who will become the healthcare leaders of the future. Thank you, Traci, for making such an impact on these student nurses!
