St. Vincent Celebrates Major Milestones for November
CHI St. Vincent is closing out the year celebrating some big milestones that demonstrate the high level of quality that can be found in our coworkers. During safety huddle on Friday, Dr. Jones revealed that the Infirmary has had no central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) for 2025, a remarkable achievement that was only possible with the coordinated efforts of multiple teams around the hospital.
“I say this a lot, but it’s worthy of being said a lot: we take care of the sickest patients in Arkansas, and we take care of the sickest patients in all of CommonSpirit Health,” said Dr. Jones during huddle. “Nobody else is close. Our CMI (case mix index) for the Arkansas market is 2.54, and the next closest is Houston with 1.9. For November, our CMI in this building was 2.875 … and so every day we have a lot of lines. And to go entire year without a CLABSI, I just can’t tell you how impressive that is.”
In 2017, the Infirmary had 49 CLABSIs; in a previous year, the number was as high as 72. Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this impressive accomplishment!

In addition, our director of patient experience DeJuan Daniel shared that the Infirmary has a patient experience score of 26 for FY25 so far, headlined by a whopping 59 for the month of November. These scores are derived from surveys and reviews aggregated by Press Ganey. The Infirmary has a goal of 36 for the fiscal year. The emergency department also scored a high mark of 32, which is its best result in 18 months. The goal for ED this fiscal year is 31.
This announcement comes on the heels of the Arkansas market winning the Overall Quality and Patient Safety award in all of CommonSpirit Health. We are incredibly proud of the work that all of our team members do every day to improve healthcare quality and make sure our patients are well taken care of. Thank you all!
