CHI St. Vincent Helps Open Pharmacy and Patient Education Classroom in Hot Springs

CHI St. Vincent was able to provide a Community Health Improvement grant through the CommonSpirit Health grants program to Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic (CCMC).

The grant provided funding for CCMC’s charitable clinic to better serve their under-resourced, under-served patients who do not otherwise have access to healthcare and are in poverty. The clinic is staffed with volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy techs and operational support volunteers.

This money also made it possible to create a new Patient Education Classroom that adjoins CCMC’s in-house pharmacy. The classroom will make it possible for patients to access information about diabetic care, hypertension, diet and exercise, oral hygiene, women’s health, and budgeting.

On Friday, June 21, the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at CCMC and the new CHI St. Vincent Pharmacy and Patient Education Classroom. Father George Sanders, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, was there to bless and dedicate the building.

CCMC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve life for those who are under-served and under-resourced. This mission is fulfilled through a charitable clinic, poverty disruption programs, and advocacy services.
