CHI St. Vincent and AHA Pump Heart Health Education into the Community

CHI St. Vincent continues to raise awareness about heart health in Central Arkansas, and is working with the American Heart Association to launch the Embracing Community Care program. One of the first community sites, Bethel A.M.E. Church in Little Rock, held their first event on Saturday, February 24!

With over 100 million Americans at risk for high blood pressure, this free initiative will support community members in monitoring and improving their cardiovascular health and managing chronic conditions through blood pressure monitoring equipment and resources.

Embracing Community Care is a joint program with CHI St. Vincent and the American Heart Association designed to educate and create awareness around the risks associated with heart disease. This program helps to find sites within the community to host events so we can reach people where they are at, in their community and provide them with education and resources to help them take control of their heart health.

Saturday’s event featured a brief discussion from Dr. Anthony Fletcher, followed by a presentation from Kenya Eddings of the American Heart Association-Arkansas Chapter and Minority Health Commission.

A plaque was presented to a member of the church leadership congratulating them on being an Embracing Community Care site. They provided both education as well as resources for the participants.
