Infirmary PICC Team Honored for Impressive Safety Feat
Congratulations to the PICC Team at the Infirmary on receiving the CHI St. Vincent Service Hero award! Chris Hall, Lisa Green, Hollis Maxwell and Everardo Berber (not pictured) were all recognized during leader huddle last week. Our PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) team has had an incredible year so far, with zero CLABSIs (central line-associated bloodstream infection) despite a heavy workload. Here’s what Infirmary President Christi Whatley had to say at their award presentation:
“This is a team of only four people made a tremendous impact across SVI in fiscal year 2026. They completed more than 5,000 orders, placed 726 PICCs, 75 CVCs, and 1,407 midlines, and had zero CLABSIs associated with the lines they placed. Those numbers are impressive, but they only tell part of the story. Every order represents a patient who needed their expertise, and this team consistently provided safe, timely, patient-centered care. They are not only skilled at what they do but are also a trusted resource for nurses and providers throughout the hospital. Four people serving an entire hospital is no small task. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to patient safety make a difference every single day.
Four people, 801 lines placed with the potential for CLABSI, zero CLABSIs. The SVI PICC team truly embodies what it means to be a service hero.”
We are deeply impressed and so proud of the work these four have done. Congratulations to you all! Don’t forget, if you know of a coworker or team that has gone above and beyond in their work, you can nominate them to be a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero!
