Lindsey Witham Named Daisy Award Winner at Infirmary

Caring for our patient’s families is just as important as caring for our patients. That’s why we want to recognize Lindsey Witham, RN, as a Daisy Award winner. Read her nomination:

“The nurse is a very kind and patient nurse. She took great care of me several days in a row, even hugged me when I got overwhelmed and was crying in the hallway. She also did things that she could have asked aids to do, like take my tray, get me ice, straws, towels, etc. She even helped my mom in the same way, getting things my mom needed. I am a nurse myself, and I know too well how busy the job can be, but she never once made it seem as if she did not have time for me and my mom. I honestly felt like I was her only patient. I am sure all her patients feel the same.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
