Well-being Wednesday Focuses on Importance of Antioxidants in Our Diet

You are what you eat, as the saying goes, and during the January Well-being Wednesday, attendees will learn how to incorporate foods to stay healthy and live longer.

Mandie Smith, Instructor of Nutrition with the Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management Institute, will discuss the importance of antioxidants and how they increase our immunities.

Antioxidants can prevent or slow damage to cells caused by unstable molecules that the body produces as a reaction to environmental and other pressures. Certain plant-based foods as well as dark chocolate, pecans and beans are thought to be rich in antioxidants.
