Humankindness Award for Guest Relations That Makes a Difference

We’re proud to share that Camiah Heard, guest relations at the Infirmary, has been honored with the Chick-fil-A Humankindness Award! This award goes to a team member who demonstrates humankindness in words or actions with a patient or coworker. Camiah was nominated twice for this award:

“On 6/2/26, I witnessed a true act of an employee showing CHI/St Vincent HumanKindness. Camiah helped a visitor that had fallen outside and was not in a position to take care of himself. While arrangements were being made to get him some help, Camiah got him food and water. She placed him in a wheelchair and let him sit near while he waited, talking to him in between helping other patients and visitors. She was genuine in her care. Getting help took a while and later that day, I heard her as she was waiting on his ride with him, talking to him about her family and speaking to him like he was a friend. She made him feel seen. She made me smile and feel proud to work alongside such a truly caring person. I hope Camiah can be recognized for the superstar that she is!

“Camiah showed genuine care, patience, and compassion to a frequent non-compliant and somewhat difficult patient. The patient was unable to stand or speak clearly, and was not cooperating with staff or security. While the team coordinated a safe discharge plan for the patient, Camiah never left his side and kept a close watch on him until his transportation arrived. The patient was in the lobby for the majority of the day, in which Camiah made sure that he had cold water and food to eat. Camiah showed compassion and empathy towards the patient, offering a listening ear and hearing his story. Once his transportation arrived, Camiah offered encouragement to the patient and ensured that he was safely seated and had his belongings and food/drink with him. This is just one example of the compassion that Camiah shows every day. She is a joy to work with and we are so grateful for her service to our ministry.”
