Patient-centered care means keeping the needs of your patient at the center of the care you provide. That goes beyond the walls of the clinics and hospitals. Amy Gates understands this. Read a little of her nomination:
Amy noticed that as the Wound Center was closing, a patient and her spouse had locked their keys in the car. The couple lived out of town. It was a cold, cloudy, rainy and the elderly patients were shivering in the parking lot waiting on someone to unlock their car. Instead of leaving and going home, she opened the waiting room so they could wait in the dry and warmth and helped to find someone to get the car unlocked. She waited with the patients, assisting as she could for 4 hours.
Amy’s actions represent the CHI mission and core values. Thank you Amy!
