Hot Springs Celebrates Major CLABSI Milestone

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs is celebrating a milestone after spending the last several years being laser focused on the safety of patients and coworkers.

Recently, the hospital reached 365 days, a full calendar year, since the last central line bloodstream infection (CLABSI).  A CLABSI is a preventable hospital acquired infection that can have devastating consequences on the outcomes of our patients.

Several years ago, the hospital, unfortunately, was averaging around one CLABSI per month in the Hot Springs facility.  Since then, teams went to work on hand hygiene and evidence based practices on how to prevent these infections and keep patients safe.

This performance also has helped CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs finish last year as one of the leading hospitals in all of CommonSpirit Health in preventing hospital acquired infections.

Congratulations on this milestone!
